School Nutrition Dietary Assessment Study IV

The proposal is of sound statistical merit.

There are some discrepancies between the sampling described on page 22 of the paper and the strata listed in Table B.1.

1. Child Poverty Rate

• The paper notes sampling on two strata – Low (less than 30 percent) and High (30 or greater).

• The table has a stratification of Low (less than 20 percent) and High (20 percent or greater).

2. Number of Schools

• The paper notes sampling on 4 strata – 1-2 schools, 3-5 schools, 6-7 schools, 8+ schools.

• The table has only two strata – Less than 5 schools, 6+ schools. Districts with exactly 5 schools are not included in these strata.

There is also a question of school type definition. On Tables B.9 and B.10, schools are broken down by Elementary and Secondary schools. Are Middle schools considered Elementary or Secondary schools? This should be clearly defined.
