MEMORANDUM FOR: Reviewer of 1220-0134

FROM: RICHARD CLAYTON, Chief

Division of Administrative Statistics and Labor Turnover

Bureau of Labor Statistics

SUBJECT: Information Collection Budget Report Correction
for the Multiple Worksite Report (MWR) and the
Report of Federal Employment and Wages (RFEW)

The MWR is for non-federal businesses subject to State Unemployment Insurance laws and the RFEW is for federal establishments covered under the Unemployment Compensation for Federal Employees program. Both are essentially the same and the forms are designed to collect employment and wages data for each establishment of a multi-establishment employer. The survey is a census and the increase of total hours requested, from 190,048 hours to 194,439 hours, is due to the availability of more recent information on the expansion in the total number of businesses in the U.S. economy with multiple-worksite locations.

The burden hours of 190,048 were based on record counts from the 2006/1 Quarterly Unemployment Insurance Address Files. Using more current information from the 2007/1 Quarterly Unemployment Insurance Address Files results in the following estimate for the FY 2008 burden-hour projections:

a. Number of respondents: 131,378

b. Frequency of response: Quarterly

c. Estimated time per response 22.2 minutes

d. Annual burden: 194,439 Hours

Current OMB approval for the MWR and RFEW is scheduled to expire March 31, 2010.
