Attachment C4: Supporting Letter from Collaborating Associations

[Cover Letter on Association Letterhead – to accompany all mailings]

Dear [ACOEM/ASSE/AAOHN/AIHA] Member:

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is interested in finding out to what extent their publications and research partnerships are meeting the needs of their customers and what steps need to be taken to better improve these initiatives. They recognize the critical role of [occupational medicine physicians/safety professionals/occupational health nurses/industrial hygienists] in promoting and protecting the safety and wellbeing of the American worker and have identified the members of the [American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine/American Society of Safety Engineers/American Association of Occupational Health nurses, Inc./American Industrial Hygiene Association] as one of their primary constituencies.

In 2003, with the support of our organization, NIOSH conducted a Customer Satisfaction Survey to assess how effective the Institute was in providing information to occupational safety and health professionals and how they might improve their performance. NIOSH has asked for our help in conducting a second Customer Satisfaction Survey to assess current effectiveness and areas for continued improvement. We are happy to support NIOSH in this effort. This survey provides a unique opportunity for our members to provide input and professional perspective on the value and utility of NIOSH publications and research partnerships, as well as recommendations for future directions.

We encourage you to take 20 minutes of your time to complete the enclosed survey. Although NIOSH is offering attractive incentives to individual respondents, the most significant benefit of your participation may be to the profession as a whole, as NIOSH strives to meet our changing information needs.

Sincerely,

[ACOEM/ASSE/AAOHN/AIHA representative]
