Under Section 24 of the Federal Power
Act (16 USC 818) applicants proposing hydropower projects on, or
changes to existing projects located on, lands owned by the United
States are required to provide a description of the U.S. lands
affected and to notify the Commission and the Secretary of the
Interior. When the filer submits the FERC-587, the filer is also
required to submit exhibit drawings (e.g., on aperture cards and/or
electronic files). FERC Form No. 587 consolidates the information
required, identifies hydropower project boundary maps associated
with the lands of the United States, and serves as a table of
contents for the federal lands that are shown in the drawings.
[The requirements and burden imposed by the drawings are cleared
separately and not a subject of this request.]
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
