Dear Doctor/Pharmacist

We are conducting a research study to qualitatively explore experiences and practices of physicians and pharmacists with respect to communicating information on the administration and risks of over-the-counter acetaminophen to consumers and patients. Your responses will help us to better understand how to improve the safe use of over-the-counter acetaminophen in home settings. The results of this study can be translated into educational resources and programs to improve acetaminophen use and will provide information that is relevant to consumers, providers, and policy makers.

This study consists of individual interviews with primary care physicians and pharmacists. A research assistant will contact you by telephone to schedule a time for the interview. The interview may be done over the telephone or in-person, which ever is most convenient for you. The interview will take about 20 minutes of your time to complete. All interviews will be audio recorded and the interview will be de-identified and coded when it is transcribed. Once you have completed the interview, we will mail you a $40 gift card as compensation for participating in the study.

We are grateful for your willingness to spend a few minutes to help us improve acetaminophen use in parents of children, adolescents and adults. Sofia de Achaval, the study coordinator or Rhodrick Haralson, the research assistant will call you in the next week to arrange the interview. Please feel free to contact Sofia at 713-745-9064 with any questions.

Sincerely,
