Project Information Sheet for The Department of Homeland Security, Office of Policy and Strategy, Survey of Recently Naturalized Citizens

What is this study about? This study will help USCIS better understand the naturalization application process. You will be asked questions about your reasons for applying, the timing of your application, your experience with the application and testing process and your experiences since becoming a citizen.

Who is conducting this survey? The USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) of the Department of Homeland Security has hired Abt SRBI, a national public opinion research company to conduct this survey. Abt SRBI conducts hundreds of national surveys every year and employs an experienced, professional interviewing staff.

What will be asked of me? A professional interviewer will ask you to answer survey questions over the phone. The interview will last about 25 minutes. You may conduct the interview in English, or request a bi-lingual interviewer or interpreter.

Who will know what I say? Your responses are completely private, and your name will not be linked to the feedback you provide. Your participation is completely voluntary.

Why should I participate? The information you provide will help USCIS improve their services for naturalizing citizens.

How can I be sure my rights as a participant are protected? Your participation in this research is entirely voluntary. Without the help of community members like you, we could not conduct this work.
