Dear Mr. Jeff Anderson,

The Federal Register Notice that you are referencing, is used to announce to the public that a government agency is in the process of asking the Office of Management and Budget to review our program and to approve funding for the renewal of the program. We are required to ask the public for input and comments concerning the entire package (data collected, frequency, publication of findings, methodology, etc.). This request period is open for 60 days to respond. After that time we take all public comments and review and respond to them, if necessary. Both, the comments and the responses, become part of the Federal docket that is submitted to OMB for approval.

On other dockets, we have received comments or requests for specific changes or enhancements that would be useful to the data users. The requests were reviewed by our Commodity Statisticians, Methodologists, and Survey Administrators to see if the requests are both feasible and practical. We have always tried to adopt changes that are beneficial to data users whenever possible.
