12. We want to know if you plan to dredge at your facility for either maintenance* or improvement**purposes between now and 20XX assuming cost-effective disposal options are available. Please do not allow potential institutional constraints, such as type of material to be dredged, disposal options, or state and federal permit requirements, to influence your answers to this question.

* Maintenance dredging is the removal of shoal material from areas previously dredged to the same depths as previously dredged.

** Improvement dredging is dredging in new areas not previously dredged or deepening of previously dredged areas beyond prior dredging depths. Improvement includes dredging to expand or deepen existing facilities or to construct new facilities.

The table below provides columns for estimating when future maintenance dredging or improvement dredging will occur. The table is broken into four time frames over the next 30 years. Please estimate in which of those time frames you plan to dredge, and write in the approximate volume(s) in cubic yards that

you expect to dredge. We recognize that there may be significant uncertainty regarding both the volume and the timing of any future dredging, however, please make your best estimate.

Time Interval

Maintenance

Dredging Volumes

(cubic yards)

Improvement

Dredging Volumes

14. What would be the likely financial impact on your facility if you are not able to dredge in the future due to a lack of cost-effective dredged material disposal options? Please respond in terms of the approximate percentage by which your revenue would be reduced. If possible, please explain the basis for your estimate in the comment space below.

Typical impacts of reduced dredging include loss of facility use or annual revenue due to inadequate depths, loss of business potential from the inability to improve or expand facilities and services, and conversion of water-dependent activities and facilities to non-water-dependent activities due to reduced economic viability over the long term.
