PART A. EQUIPMENT USE AND EXPENDITURES IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS

In COLUMN A on the following pages we have listed equipment that people frequently bring with them to recreation areas and parks. This list may look long, but most of the equipment will not apply to your trip to _______________. Since we are asking only about spending associated with the equipment you had with you, completing this section should not take long. The example will help clarify what information is needed.

Column A Check if you owned and had this equipment with you on your recent trip.

Column B Indicate the number of trips (in the last 12 months) on which you took that equipment on trips to _______________ (not including the trip when you were interviewed).

The items Joe had with him included a tent, sleeping bag, and hiking boots all purchased new in the past 12 months. He also had a hammock, which was purchased used. Please look at the list and see how these items should be reported on the questionnaire.

All items were camping equipment (Column A) and used on 2 trips to _______________ in the past 12 months (Column B) and on 10 trips to other areas in the past 12 months (Column C).
