Reporting Period


We revised the reporting period to the following: “01/01/2010 – 12/31/2010.*” The reporting period has been modified due to commenters’ recommendation.


Introduction


  1. Under paragraph two, we revised the first sentence as follows:

“This survey provides for the collection of occupational mix data for a 12- month period, that is, *from pay periods ending between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010, to be applied to the FY 2013 wage index.” The instruction for the reporting period was modified due to commenters’ recommendation.

  1. Under paragraph three, we revised the first sentence as follows:

“Completed occupational mix surveys must be submitted to FIs or MACs on the Excel hospital reporting form, by July 1, 2011, via email attachment or overnight delivery. The Excel version of the occupational mix survey may be obtained from FIs or MACs or downloaded from CMS’s website…” The instructions were modified to update the survey submission date.

Footnote


We revised the footnote on page one of the instructions to state the following: “Also, hospitals that terminated participation in the Medicare program before January 1, 2011 are not required to complete the survey.” This is an update to the date for terminated providers.


Cost Center Descriptions

On page four of the instructions, we revised the list of cost centers for nursing personnel included in the 2010 occupational mix survey to also include the corresponding line numbers from the new Medicare cost report, Form 2552-10. The list of cost centers were revised due to commenters’ recommendation. The revisions are as follows:
