A couple of weeks ago we wrote you about a survey of Southwestern Region residents and asked for your help. Included with that letter was a questionnaire asking what you thought about National Forests and Grasslands in this region and how they should be managed. As of Month day, we haven’t heard from you.

Completing the questionnaire will take some time and effort on your part, but the information is needed by the Forest Service to make plans and decisions about how to manage the National Forests and Grasslands in this region. Those plans and decisions need to be made and they will be made. Better decisions can be made, though, if a wide variety of people’s views are represented. That’s why we need your help.

The accuracy of any results from this survey depends on input from all kinds of people, whether they actually use the National Forests and Grasslands a lot, a little, or not at all. Even though the questionnaire is completely voluntary, we would like to hear from you. Your answers about what you do and what you think are important because they represent the views of other people like yourself. A copy of the questionnaire is enclosed in case the first one got misplaced. Please fold your completed questionnaire and return it in the enclosed postage-paid envelope as soon as you can. Try to answer all the questions as best you can because incomplete questionnaires detract from the value of the data. Everything you tell us is confidential; only the compiled results will be reported. Each questionnaire is numbered to help us keep track of returns. Your name and address will never be connected with the completed questionnaire.

A page of questions you might have about this survey is included along with our answers. If you have more questions, please feel free to contact our Project Manager, Michael Hand. His address and phone number are at the bottom of the Questions & Answers page.

Thank you in advance for your time and effort in completing the questionnaire. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Robert Berrens Daniel McCollum
