When this information collection was recently approved, the instructions for SF-299 were not ready for review. The instructions are for guidance for a paleontological applicant to provide the pertinent information needed to determine if a permit should be issued. The SF-299 is very broad and past paleontological applicants were receiving individual attention to fill out the forms. The Paleontological Advisory Group developed these instructions for the applicant to provide consistent customer service. The instructions are now complete and ready for OMB review and decision.
The supporting statement included information on the instructions for the survey and the burden was included in the original request and OMB approval.
