Attachment G1: Text For Pre-Survey Publicity
Long-haul truck drivers are invited to participate in personal interviews to discuss their health and safety issues. These interviews will be conducted at selected truck stops throughout the U.S. Responses are anonymous and eligible drivers will receive $25 for participating in a 50 minute discussion. The interviews will be conducted by Westat, a research company. Westat is a partner in a contract with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to develop and conduct a national survey that will provide information about the health and safety issues of the long haul truck driving workforce.
Participants will not receive any direct benefit. Indirect benefits to the participant may include increased knowledge of the health and wellness of truck drivers, and increased understanding of how working conditions may affect health. There are no known physical or psychological risks from taking part in this study. All information you provide will be kept private and destroyed at the end of the study.
If interviews are being conducted at a truck stop where you may be stopped, please take part!
