Subject: Bundled Generic Sub-Study Packages for 0925-0589, #6, #7, and #8

The National Cancer Institute is proposing three generic sub-studies (bundled) under OMB #: 0925-0589 due to the length of time it would take to clear three separate sub-studies.

The first sub-study involves focus groups to test preliminary materials in preparation for the full information collection of Health Information National Trends Survey (HINTS) in 2011. The second sub-study involves cognitive interviews for finalizing the Multidisciplinary (MDC) Survey for administration by the Commission on Cancer. The third sub-study is a website evaluation of the NCI Experimental Therapeutics (NExT) website (http://next.cancer.gov).

The file “#6 #7 #8 Bundled Gen IC” (i.e., Generic IC Forms) highlight the abstracts for each proposed project and is included in this submission.

The key to understanding the attachments and files in ICRAS/ROCIS is as listed below.

Sub-study #6:

Full title: “Health Information National Trends Survey (HINTS) 4 Advance Materials Focus Groups”

Abbreviated Title: HINTS

Attachments are labeled “6” and include:

  • Justification Memo and Attachments 6B (Reminder Letter), 6C (Test Materials), 6E (Consent Form), and 6F (Westat IRB Approval)

  • Attachments 6A (Screener) and 6D (Moderator Guide)

Sub-study #7:

Full title: “Cognitive Testing for Multidisciplinary Care (MDC) Survey”

Abbreviated Title: MDC

Attachments are labeled “7” and include:

  • Justification Memo and Attachments 7B (Cover Letter), 7D (Consent) and 7F (IRB Approval)

  • Attachments 7A (Scheduling Script), 7C (Survey) and 7D (Moderator’s Guide)

Sub-study #8:

Full title: Evaluation of the NCI Experimental Therapeutics (NExT) Website

Abbreviated Title: NExT

Attachments are labeled “8” and include:

  • Justification Memo and Attachments 8B (Consent), 8C (Script for Verbal Consent), 8D (Timeline) and 8H (OHSR Request)

  • Attachments 8A (Recruiting Email/Screener), 8E (Facilitator’s Guide), 8F (System Usability Scale), and 8G (Modified Cooper-Harper Difficulty Rating Scale)

Notes to OMB: The affected public is different for all three studies. For sub-study #6, the affected respondents are “Individuals.” For sub-study #7 and #8, the affected public will include “Individuals”, as well as “Private Sector” (Business and Not-for-Profit) and “Federal Government.” Additionally, the total requested responses and burden was calculated by taking the sum for the three sub-studies (see combined tables below).
