The Board requires all Class I
railroads (defined as carriers having revenues in excess of 250
million dollars in 1991 dollars) to report quarterly the following:
(1) total monthly fuel cost; (2) gallons of fuel consumed during
the month; (3) increased or decreased cost of fuel over the
previous month; (4) total monthly revenue from fuel surcharges; and
(5) total monthly revenue from fuel surcharges on regulated traffic
only. The Board has authority to collect information about rail
costs and revenues under 49 U.S.C. 11144 and 11145.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
