E-mail Subject: 2010 Post-Election Voting Survey of Overseas Civilians

The Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP), in coordination with the Defense
Manpower Data Center (DMDC), has selected you to participate in the "2010 PostElection Voting Survey of Overseas Civilians.” This survey collects information on the
absentee voting experience of U.S. civilians living overseas during the 2010 federal
election process. The findings will be used to improve the Federal Voting Assistance
Program (FVAP) and the absentee voting process for overseas civilians. We hope you
will take 30 minutes to participate. You do not have to complete the survey in one sitting.
You can start and stop as necessary.
Although the survey is voluntary, the Post-Election Voting Survey is one of the only
tools we have to gauge the absentee voting process experienced by uniformed service
members and U.S. civilians abroad. We consider your information and your opinions
vital to improving the absentee voting process. The results will be used only to improve
the federal voting process for overseas civilians and will not be shared with the Internal
Revenue Service. The survey does not require you to provide any personally identifiable
information, such as your name, date of birth, or social security number. Your responses
will be kept private to the extent permitted by law.
The secure Web site for the survey is:

survey Web site.

verify the survey’s legitimacy. Call 1-703-696-7427 for a list of current DMDC surveys.

In accordance with DoD Instruction 8910.01, all data collection in the Department must
be licensed and show that license as an Office of Management and Budget (OMB)
Control Number with an expiration date. The OMB for this survey is OMB# [OMB
NUMBER], expiring [OMB DATE].
Thank you. We appreciate your willingness to take the survey and provide us with your
comments and recommendations on the absentee voting process.
