On May 27, 2010, the Department ofthe Interior presented recommendations to the President
that outlined a series of important measures for the purpose ofimproving the safety of offshore
oil and gas drilling operations in the Outer Continental Shelf. Based upon my further review of
these recommendations and pursuant to my Secretarial authority, I hereby direct you to adopt the
recommendations outlined in the above-referenced report and to implement them as soon as
possible through proper mechanisms.
