Justification for change
The burden increase was necessitated by the addition of numerous participating agencies (I think about 1,000) since the last time the form was authorized.
The “burden” is composed of the aggregate amount of time the agencies will spend filling out the form. We have estimated about 30 minutes each, so each additional agency increases our burden by that amount.
We made the following changes:
We now ask for the name and contact info for both the contact person and the person who prepared the form.
We ask for first and last name on separate fields.
We no longer ask for the fax number.
“Change in Administration” is no longer an option for the type of submission.
Lines requesting data on the purchase of firearms and protective gear were combined.
We now collect more specific information about the receipt of non-cash assets.
Where we used to seek the address of other agencies that received or sent sharing funds, now we only seek the NCIC/ORI number.
We no longer request status of civil rights cases
We give the users the option to “Opt in” to receipt of an electronic news letter regarding equitable sharing.
The remaining changes were cosmetic and consisted of rearranging the lines on the form.
