How many people are in your party today, including you? [1.GR3]
Party size: __________

A transportation system is being planned and designed to offer visitors greater access to
sites on Cumberland Island National Seashore. This system will offer 5 to 8 trips a day to
the north end of the island. Tentatively, each of these trips will start and end at the ferry
dock and take approximately three to five hours to complete. A fee of approximately $20
would be charged for use of the transportation services to the north end of the island. Also,
a separate, unscheduled courtesy shuttle would be provided to sites on the south end of the
island. A fee would not be charged for use of transportation services on the south end of

the island. The following questions pertain to the future transportation system on
Cumberland Island.
9. If the transportation system were available today, would you have used it to take a trip to the
northern part of the island? (Please check one.) (3. variation FVIS18)

The Wilderness Act of 1964 allows Congress to preserve certain federal lands in their
wilderness condition. Congress has designated hundreds of wilderness areas to protect
wildlife, scenery, water, and recreation opportunities, and to keep these areas wild and
natural. Most of the northern part of Cumberland Island was designated as a wilderness
area by Congress, with the exceptions of the Main Road, Plum Orchard, and the High
Point – Half Moon Bluff Historic District. The following questions pertain to the
wilderness area on Cumberland Island National Seashore. A map showing the wilderness
area boundaries on Cumberland Island is available from the person who gave you this
survey.

Please note that the Main Road, Plum Orchard, and the High Point – Half Moon Bluff

Cumberland Island.

A map showing the wilderness
area boundaries on Cumberland Island is included with this survey. You were selected to
take this survey because you recently paid a backcountry camping fee to camp at the
Hickory Hill, Yankee Paradise, or Brickhill Bluff camping sites. These camping sites are in
the wilderness area on Cumberland Island.
17. Did you know that you were visiting a wilderness area when you were in it? (Please refer to
