Dear Lost Coast Trail User:
Recently we contacted you at one of the trailheads leading into the Lost Coast Trail, and asked you to participate in a study of use and users of the Lost Coast Trail. We appreciate your willingness to participate. Enclosed is a follow-up questionnaire designed to gather more detailed information on your experiences, perceptions of problems, and preferences for management. The Bureau of Land Management will use this information to improve management and better protect the unique resources of the Lost Coast and the quality of your experiences.
This is your chance to express your opinions. Please help us obtain an accurate and representative sampling of Lost Coast visitors by completing and returning the questionnaire. Since relatively few visitors were randomly chosen for this study, each returned questionnaire represents many Lost Coast Trail visitors. Your opinions are valued, and are needed to represent the many others not selected, therefore your participation is vital.
All of your answers will be tallied in such a way that responses cannot be identified with individuals. The questionnaire was designed and will be analyzed by a Humboldt State University professor, so it does not advocate any particular viewpoint, and is not designed to elicit any particular answers. The questionnaire shouldn’t take more than about 20-25 minutes to fill out. Once you’ve finished, just put the questionnaire in the enclosed reply envelope (first class postage is already affixed) and drop it in the mail.
