Dear «First_Name»:

You may recall speaking with us this summer while spending some time at Biscayne National Park (or Dry Tortugas National Park). At that time you generously agreed to participate in a study about National Park visitor use that is being conducted by East Carolina University. We appreciate your willingness to spend a little of your time helping us in this important effort. We are interested in learning more about your use of Biscayne National Park (or Dry Tortugas National Park). , as well as your management preferences for the Park.

This study is important to the management of National Parks in Florida and is part of an on-going effort throughout the State. Your survey responses will help us to better understand what is important to people when visiting National Parks.

Enclosed you will find a questionnaire and a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Please complete and return the survey at your earliest convenience. Your response is very important to us. We are seeking an accurate representation of the experiences and perspectives of all Biscayne National Park (or Dry Tortugas National Park) users, and your participation is critical to this goal. For our results to represent all users of Biscayne National Park (or Dry Tortugas National Park) it is important that you and no one else complete and return the questionnaire. You should be able to complete the survey in about 20 minutes.

You may be assured of complete anonymity. The questionnaire has an identification number for mailing purposes only. This is so the staff at the East Carolina University can check your name off the mailing list when your questionnaire is returned. Your name and address will never be placed on or associated with the questionnaire, nor will the information you provide be used for any other purposes.

Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or 252-737-2327 with any questions or comments about the survey or research project. Thank you in advance for your participation!

Sincerely,

Dr. David K. Loomis
