E-Verify Program Data Collection

As explained in the attached letter from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), The University of Arizona is conducting an evaluation on behalf of USCIS of the E-Verify employment verification program in {THIS STATE}. E-Verify is an Internet-based system operated by the Department of Homeland Security in partnership with the Social Security Administration. It allows an employer, using information reported on an employee's Form I-9, to determine the eligibility of that employee to work in the United States. Your company may or may not be using E-Verify to confirm work eligibility for new hires but, regardless, we would appreciate your participation in this online survey.

The University of Arizona will treat the information you provide as highly confidential. We will not share your company’s responses with USCIS or other persons outside of the University research team. Our report to USCIS will summarize data from all of the employers we survey and provide general information that will not permit identification of individual employers. After completing the online survey, you will be given the opportunity to print the questions, including your responses.

Your perspective as an employer – regardless of whether your company is currently using E-Verify – will help to determine the impact and direction of federal requirements for new hire employment eligibility verification. We will be asking you to complete the survey for three consecutive years so that we can measure trends over time. We do not expect completion of the survey to take more than 30 minutes on average per year.

If you are not the person at your establishment who is most familiar with the E-Verify Program, please provide us with the name, email address, and phone number of the person we should be contacting.
