Note to File – Description of Birth Visit – Umbilical Cord Blood Collection

Birth Visit description (excerpted from VIS)

We would like to collect umbilical cord blood shortly after your child is born.

We will work with hospital, clinic, or birthing center staff to collect the umbilical cord blood shortly after your child’s birth. Blood is collected from the umbilical cord after it is separated from the baby.

    • There is no pain from cord blood collection.

    • If you have decided to participate in a cord blood bank program to store your child’s umbilical cord blood, we will not collect any cord blood for the Study.

Duration: 5 minutes; incorporated into total burden for the Birth Visit
