Dear _______________:

About two weeks ago, we mailed you a survey about your views on wildlife management at Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP).

If you have completed and returned the survey, please accept our sincere thanks. If not, please do so today. We sincerely appreciate your help because it is only by asking visitors like you to share their views about wildlife management that RMNP staff can make visitors’ experience more enjoyable.

If you did not receive the survey or it was misplaced will mail you another one. Please call me at 970-491-5674 or e-mail me at [email protected]

Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,

Don Zimmerman, Professor & Director

Dear

I am writing about a visitor survey about Rocky Mountain National Park, in which you agreed to participate. The waiting period for incoming surveys is almost over, and as of today, we have not yet received yours. (If you have mailed it within the past few days, thank you!) Since you are one of a select number of visitors of Rocky Mountain National Park who were chosen to participate in the survey, I would appreciate you completing the survey.

The staff of Rocky Mountain National Park is anxiously awaiting the survey results. They want to use your ideas and opinions in making decisions and learning more about visitors’ views on wildlife management.

So please complete the enclosed survey and return it by [date]. It should take you about 20 minutes. Your contribution to the success of this study is greatly appreciated.

We also want you to know that protecting your identity is important to us. The identification number on the back of the survey enables us to check your name off of the mailing list when the survey is returned. At the end of the research period, the list of names is destroyed so that individual names cannot be connected to the survey results in any way.

We hope that you fill out and return the enclosed survey soon, but if you prefer not to, please let us know by returning a note or a blank survey in the enclosed, stamped, self-addressed envelope.

If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me, call, or write me (see letterhead).

Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,

Don Zimmerman

Dear

Over the last month or so, we have sent you several letters focusing on an important research project that we are conducting for Rocky Mountain National Park.

The project focuses on developing a better understanding of visitors’ views of wildlife management at Rocky Mountain National park.

As the study draws to a close, this is our last contact that will be made with a sample of visitors who visited Rocky Mountain National Park in early fall.

We are sending this final letter because we are concerned that visitors who have not responded to our earlier mailings may be different from those visitors who did respond. By hearing from everyone who volunteered to help us, we will have a better idea of what information about wildlife management is needed and how we can provide it to a wide range of visitors.

Your response to this study is voluntary, and if you don’t want to respond, that’s fine.

We appreciate your considering our request as we wrap up this research project.

Sincerely,

Don Zimmerman

Professor & Director
