Non-substantive Change Justification Statement
Egg, Chicken and Turkey Surveys, OMB 0535-0004
Due to NASS’ continuing efforts to reduce respondent burden, standardize/enhance questionnaires to keep up with changes in the poultry industry, and to reduce costs in preparation for the anticipated cuts to the fiscal year 2012 budget, NASS would like to request a non-substantive change to the Egg, Chicken and Turkey Surveys docket, OMB 0535-0004.
NASS plans to:
Discontinue the Annual Hatchery and Chick Placement Report.
Remove the cash receipts questions from the Weekly Hatchery Report, the Monthly Hatchery Report and the Monthly Turkey Hatchery Report.
Add the cash receipts questions to the annual Hatchery Capacity Report.
Remove the chicks/poults received questions from the Weekly Hatchery Report, the Monthly Hatchery Report and the Monthly Turkey Hatchery Report.
With the development of more efficient data collection and analysis systems, NASS will be able to track chick/poult placements within each State more accurately and will not need to burden the respondent to collect this information on either a weekly or monthly basis.
NASS plans to implement these changes once OMB approves these non-substantive changes.
No additional changes to respondent burden or methodology are proposed at this time.
