Justification for Nonsubstantive Change to Increase Burden Hours for BLS Generic Package “Cognitive and Psychological Research”

OMB Control Number 1220-0141

The DOL requests burden limits for OMB Control Number 1220-0141, Cognitive and Psychological Research, be increased an additional 1000 responses and hours—to bring each total to 2200.

When the package was originally submitted, the supporting statement made clear 3600 responses and burden hours were requested over the three-year period, however, only 1200 (the annual burden) was entered into ROCIS for each category. The BLS has used a total of 1810 responses and 1167 hours for the 3-year period thus far, and anticipates needing no more than the requested additional allotment before the full package is submitted for renewal. In the future, the full 3-year amount will be entered into the ROCIS database.

The current expiration date for this package is February 29, 2012.
