Practitioners who dispense narcotic
drugs to individuals for maintenance or detoxification treatment
must register with the DEA under the Narcotic Addict Treatment Act
of 1974. Registration is needed for control measures and is used to
prevent diversion.
The decrease in hour burden is
related to more applications for and renewals of registration being
conducted electronically. For this collection overall, electronic
responses increased from 49% during the previous renewal to 86% for
this renewal. Other changes reflect population adjustments.
