University of Wisconsin and OFE POP Study
Guidance for POP staff administering follow-up surveys on site
POP participants who have consented to participate in the study will be asked to complete a follow-up survey about 5 months after recruitment into the study. Participants who are still in POP will be asked to verbally respond to the survey on site. Participants who are no longer in the program will be mailed the survey.
Staff members administering the survey on site should read the following script to participants before starting:
“We are partnering with the New York City Office of Financial Empowerment and the University of Wisconsin to survey people who participate in the Parks Opportunity Program. The U.S. Department of the Treasury has asked us to evaluate the program, and this brief survey will help us improve financial services for people like you. We are asking for your help today because you agreed to participate in our study about five months ago.
“We will read the survey questions aloud and record your answers. To thank you for your participation, we will give you a $10 Metrocard as a token of our appreciation.
“The survey is voluntary. Your decision to participate has no effect on any services you have received or may receive in the future. The survey is also private. We will not use your name in the study. We will use your survey answers and information associated with the services you have received.
“We really appreciate your participation. Your opinions and experiences are very important to us.”
