Dear XXX,

A few days from now you will receive a request in the mail to fill out a brief survey for an important research project being conducted by the Veterans Affairs (VA) Boston Healthcare System. The survey is about the deployment and post-deployment experiences of veterans who served during Operation Enduring Freedom and/or Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF). We are writing in advance because we have found that many people like to know ahead of time that they will be contacted with this type of request. This study is an important one that will help the VA understand the experiences of OEF/OIF veterans in order to better understand their health care needs. Thank you for your time and consideration. It’s only with the generous help of people like you that our research can be successful.

Sincerely,

Amy E. Street, Ph.D. Jaimie L. Gradus, M.P.H.

Lead Study Investigators,

Post-Deployment Adjustment among Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom Veterans

PS. We will be enclosing a small token of our appreciation with the survey as our way of saying thanks.
