The E-Government Act of 2002 defines these terms by reference to the definition sections of Titles 40 and
44 of the United States Code. The following is a summary of those definitions:
•“Information Technology” means any equipment or interconnected system or subsystem of
equipment, used in the automatic acquisition, storage, manipulation, management, movement,
control, display, switching, interchange, transmission, or reception of data or information. See 40
U.S.C. § 11101(6).
•“Information System” means a discrete set of information resources organized for the collection,
processing, maintenance, use, sharing, dissemination, or disposition of information. See: 44. U.S.C. §
3502(8).
Note: for purposes of this form, there is no distinction made between national security systems or
technologies/systems managed by contractors. All technologies/systems should be initially reviewed for
potential privacy impact.

The information provided on Form I-914 permits victims of severe forms of trafficking and their
immediate family members to demonstrate that they qualify for temporary nonimmigrant status
pursuant to the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000 (VTVPA), and to
receive temporary immigration benefits.

Projects can relate to individuals in a number of ways. For example, a project may include a camera for

legal authority to do so:
The Social Security Number (SSN) is used to adjudicate the application. The SSN
is recorded by USCIS CLAIMS 3 database. USCIS collects Social Security
Numbers (applicant, fiancé, and spouse) in certain forms and enters them into
CLAIMS 3 and associated systems in conjunction with other information to
verify the identity of the applicant, fiancé and spouse, to determine the
applicant’s eligibility for certain benefits, and in order to facilitate computer
matching activities with the Social Security Administration. For certain
applications that involve requests for employment, the SSN is used to verify that
the applicant is, in fact, the same person reflected in the employer's records.

The form collects an alien full name, address, date and of birth, gender, and passport
number.
