Subject: Request for Approval to Add Grant/Cooperative Agreement to

OMB Contract: #0584-0512

The Uniform Grant Application for Non-Entitlement Discretionary Grants, OMB Number 0584-0512, expiration 9/30/2012 allows the Food and Nutrition Service to add programs to the list of approved programs that use this generic clearance process periodically, provided that approval is obtained in advance.

The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) is requesting OMB approval to add the Assessment of Alternatives to Face-to-Face Interviews in SNAP to the list of approved projects. FNS intends to award funding to 3 states to implement demonstration projects in which the required face-to-face interview for SNAP benefits is waived. The states will also work cooperatively with FNS and a FNS contracting evaluator to conduct an evaluation of the demonstration projects. We are estimating 1,548 hours annually to the public to respond to the Request for Applications to operate these demonstrations.
