Dear Ms. Jean Public,

The mission of  the National Agricultural Statistics Service is to provide timely, reliable, and accurate agricultural information to industry, the public, and governmental sectors.  NASS regularly reviews and evaluates programs based on industry and data user input. We carefully examine them for purpose and efficiency. Recent standardization and poultry program cuts have reduced the data requested and its frequency. Current data being collected remains critical to producing information which impacts decisions on food safety, environmental policy, farm programs, and the economic well being of America. 

Regarding your comments on the care and well being of animals, we cannot speak to as this is outside the scope of our authority or responsibility.
