This document contains proposed
regulations that provide rules requiring any person assigned an
employer identification number (EIN) to provide updated information
to the IRS in the manner and frequency prescribed by forms,
instructions, or other appropriate guidance. These proposed
regulations affect persons with EINs and will enhance the IRS'
ability to maintain accurate information as to the persons assigned
EINs.
The collection of information
in this proposed regulation is in proposed
§301.61091(d)(2)(ii)(A). This information is necessary to allow
the IRS to gather correct ownership information with respect to
persons that have an EIN. The proposed new burden of 403,177 hours
is attributed to a program change due to Agency discretion.
