This memorandum is requesting permission to add an additional data collection field to the online NIH Loan Repayment Programs Application for extramural applicants.
The Division of Loan Repayment in conjunction with the eRA has initiated a project that will allow us to electronically pass data from our application to the IMPAC system. This process is currently handled manually.
The best option for automatically matching the LRP applicant to the proper records in the IMPAC system would be by using the NIH Commons User ID. Specifically, the NIH Commons User ID is a key data element because it facilitates application matching; we expect an overwhelming majority of applicants will have a Commons ID since it is now required for trainees as well as PIs.
A sample of the approved form showing the data field to be added at the end of Section 1 is attached. (See yellow highlighted text)
