SSA requires a method to collect the availability of the participants for a hearing. The automated scheduling software will use availability and specific needs identified by ALJs to provide Regional and Hearing Office staff proposed time, place, and participants of requested hearings. HO users will also be able to approve, modify or completely reject a proposed hearing. SSA employees will use an Intranet application (internal ASA) to collect the availability of ALJs. Individuals who are not SSA employees (external participants) will voluntarily use an eService Internet application (external ASA) to provide availability. All participants may continuously update availability electronically unless it adversely affects proposed or approved hearings. External participants will receive support, as needed, from Regional and Hearing Office staff using a designated 800 number. The ASA system will display approved hearings in a calendar that ASA users (both internal and external) can optionally view or print. The respondents will be SSA HO employees, individuals or their ARs, MEs, VEs, and VHRs who need to schedule a hearing with and ALJ. We are requesting a non-substantive change to change the name of the application to better reflect the functionality of the application. We are also adding Vocational and Medical Expert's information on daily calendars for SSA's representative and experts.
