Student Assent Statement

To be read prior to conducting in-class assessment

This year we are taking new classes on money and savings. Amarillo School District is going see how well the new classes work, and how these classes might change the way you think about banks.

Today you will take a survey. We will take the same survey in a few months. Everyone will complete the survey in class, but you have the choice if you want your survey information to be used by researchers. Information includes your survey answers and, if you have a youth savings account at Happy State Bank, how much you use that account.

The researchers will not be able to use your name in the study and your answers on the survey and your accounts will be kept secret.

If you do not want to be part of this study, researchers will not use your answers. You do not have to be a part of this study. If you don’t want to be in the study it will not impact your grades or any other school activities. You can ask questions and drop out of the study at any time.

If you don’t want to be part of the study, I will place a sticker on your survey when you turn it in so the researchers know to throw out your survey from the study.

Any questions about this?
