To whom it may concern:

Project ROVER (Returning Our Veterans to Employment and Reintegration) is collecting information from U.S. Veterans via a web-based survey, and is counting on your help to disseminate the survey to US Veterans. Please share the following information and link to the web-based survey with as many Veterans as possible. Feel free to forward or distribute the attached flyer to Veterans or others in your organization.

This web-based survey is being conducted as part of a research study being conducted by West Virginia University and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) which is part of CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).

This research will help us better understand the role that animals and pets play in Veterans’ lives and how animals might impact Veterans’ abilities to cope with psychological disabilities and other stressors associated with social reintegration and return to work. This survey will gather information in the following three topic areas:

  1. Deployment history, exposure to traumatic events, past and current pet ownership, status of any psychological disability, and level of functioning.

  2. Perceived barriers and facilitators to returning to work.

  3. Role of animals and pets in the Veterans’ daily life and in issues related to returning to work.

The survey is voluntary and respondents may opt out or exit the survey at any time. The survey will take approximately 60 minutes to complete.

Please contact Project ROVER at xxx-xxx-xxxx or by email at [email protected] if you have questions or concerns about the survey. We will be happy to assist you.
