CMS Response to Public Comments Received for CMS-2744

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) received comments from an individual in reference to CMS-2744. This is the reconciliation of that comment.

Comment:

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid received comments from an individual in reference to her loved one who is currently receiving dialysis. She was concerned about the impact of the federal government cutting assistance to patients by cutting back facility hours or closing dialysis facilities. She urged all involved to show support of those that are most vulnerable.

Response:

CMS appreciates the concern expressed by this commenter.  The CMS-2744 form is an administrative from used to track end stage renal disease facility census and to capture certain facility attributes related to services, staffing, and number and type of treatments.   The continued use of this administrative form does not impact or cut federal government assistance to patients.  The CMS-2744 form, in use for many years already, does not cause a reduction in facility service hours or a closing of dialysis facilities.
