In accordance with 5 CFR 1320, the information collection is approved for three years. The agency is reminded that it should have in place an internal planning process so that completion of the public notification and comment period required by 5 CFR 1320 occurs prior to an information collection's expiration date. Agencies should submit non-emergency extension requests sufficiently prior to expiration dates to allow for a 60-day period of OMB review.

DOE requests authorization to collect data on the status of WAP activities: units completed, outlays and related information. DOE has also requested authorization to liaise regularly with states to gather real-time data on implementation issues, challenges, and activities.
US Code:
42 USC 6863
Name of Law: Weatherization Program
In order to adequately monitor, report, and ensure transparency and accountability, DOE required monthly and quarterly reporting given the increase in funding for this program with the implementation of ARRA. DOE was able decrease and simplify the reporting requirements due to expending ARRA funding and returning to the standard burden and allocation.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding the proposed collection of information, that the certification covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of these provisions, identify the item by leaving the box unchecked and explain the reason in the Supporting Statement.
