Manufacturers and importers of
motor-vehicle gasoline, motor-vehicle disel fuel, and additives for
those fuels, are required to have these products registered by the
EPA prior to their introduction into commerce. Registration
involves providing a chemical description of the fuel or additive
and certain technical, marketing, and health-effects information.
Manufacturers are also required to submit periodic reports. The
information is used to identify fuels or additives whose
evaporative or combustion emissions may pose an unreasonable risk
to public health, thus meriting further investigation and potential
regulation.
There is an increase of 900
hours in the total estimated respondent burden compared with the
ICR currently approved by OMB. This increase is due to an increase
in the number of registered fuels for which quarterly and annual
reports are required.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control
number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of
these provisions, identify the item by leaving the box unchecked
