Who must comply?	Manufacturers of certain hazardous materials.
What is this collection about?	This information is used by the Coast Guard (CG) to determine the precautions/carriage requirements which must be taken to protect the vessel, crew and public from a hazardous material that has not previously been accepted for carriage in bulk on water.
Where do I find the requirements for this information?	Title 46 CFR Parts 30-40, 151, 153 and 154, are available at—http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov, select TITLE 46 – SHIPPING, and follow to the respective parts. These parts list the hazardous materials currently accepted by the CG for shipment in bulk on water, and the procedures for gaining acceptance of a new chemical.
When must information be submitted to the Coast Guard?	A manufacturer must submit information to the CG before a determination can be made about the precautions/carriage requirements to be used during shipment.
How is the information submitted?	By mail, fax or electronically submitted via e-mail to the OCMI. Emails may be sent to: [email protected]
What happens when complete information is received?	The CG will review the information and determine if a hazardous material is eligible for shipment in bulk on water and any precautions/carriage requirements. The CG will advise the manufacturer in writing if a new chemical is accepted, or explain the denial.
