Dear Mr. Nelson,
Thank you for your supporting comments regarding Federal Register Notice of the proposed
Current Agricultural Industrial Reports (CAIR). This proposed program name is intended to
reflect the agricultural emphasis of the former Current Industrial Reports (CIR) that were
discontinued by the U.S. Census Bureau in 2012.
The proposed CAIR program will produce four separate publications generated from nine data
collection instruments previously used by the Census Bureau. This data will supply data users
with important information on the utilization of many of the crops, livestock and poultry
produced in the United States. This information will provide a more complete picture of the
importance of agriculture to the American population.
These surveys will be conducted as a part of the Census of Agriculture and are mandatory as
defined under Title 7, Sec. 2204(g).
