Dear Mr. Maxfield:
Thank you for your supporting comments regarding the Federal Register Notice of the proposed
Current Agricultural Industrial Reports (CAIR). This proposed program name is intended to
reflect the agricultural emphasis of selected former Current Industrial Reports (CIR) that were
discontinued by the U.S. Census Bureau in 2012.
The proposed CAIR program will produce four separate publications generated from a suite of
data collection instruments targeting the various agricultural industries. These data will supply
data users with important information on the utilization of many of the crops, livestock and
poultry produced in the United States. This information will provide a more complete picture of
the importance of agriculture to the American population. These surveys will be conducted as a
part of the Census of Agriculture and are mandatory as defined under Title 7, Sec. 2204(g).
We appreciate your interest regarding changes to content collected on the CAIR instrument(s).
We recognize how important this information is to you and others in the agricultural industry and
will take your suggestions under advisement. Any potential changes will be evaluated through
data collection instrument testing to determine if suggestions can be implemented. Additionally,
publication standards and confidentiality and disclosure routines will be evaluated before
implementing suggestions. While we cannot make any definite commitments at this time, we
want to reiterate our appreciation for your support.

Sincerely,

Renee Picanso
