UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE

U.S. Census Bureau
Washington, DC 20233-0001

FROM THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR,
ECONOMIC PROGRAMS
U.S. CENSUS BUREAU
In March, you should have received instructions for completing the 2013 Information and
Communication Technology Survey (ICTS).
If you have already submitted your questionnaire, we thank you. If you have not responded,
please complete the enclosed questionnaire and return it within 14 days OR report
online by going to the Business Help Site at econhelp.census.gov/icts. Use the 11-digit User ID
and Password shown below the address label on the questionnaire.
We recognize the burden involved in completing this survey, but the Census Bureau depends on
your input to ensure the accuracy of our data. The ICTS data are a key source of information
about our country’s economic performance. Data on business investment in information and
communication technology that falls below a company’s capitalization threshold help economists
to assess prospects for future productivity and economic growth. In addition, the data are an
improved source of information for official estimates of the investment component of Gross
Domestic Product, and U.S. capital stock and capital flows.
We remind you that your response to this survey is mandatory. Title 13, United States Code,
Sections 131 and 182, authorizes the Census Bureau to conduct this survey. Sections 224 and
225, require your response. Section 9 guarantees your response is confidential and will only
be used for statistical purposes. Applicable provisions of the law are provided on the Business
Help Site.
Your prompt response will enable us to keep follow-up costs to a minimum. Thank you in
advance for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
