SUBJECT: Non-applicability of the Privacy Act

I have reviewed your submission to 0MB requesting approval for the “Next Series of Tobacco
Use Supplements to the Current Population Survey (TUS-CPS)(NCI)”
The Census Bureau will collect the data for the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the
National Cancer Institute (NCI). NCI will receive, through its interagency agreement with the
Census Bureau, a data set devoid of personal identifiers. Since personal identifiers are not
collected and used to retrieve information about individuals, the Privacy Act does not apply.
