1. A call comes in to your section reporting an outby mine emergency. What should you do?
Back equipment out of the faces and hang line and check curtains.
Go immediately to the section refuge alternative.
Find out as much information as you can, such as (1) WHO is providing the information to you, (2) WHERE the problem is, and (3) WHAT it is.
Immediately don your SCSR.
2. When miners gather at the designated meeting location, one miner appears to be missing. What should you do?
Conduct a head count to determine who is missing from the group.
Send miners in pairs to look for the one who is missing.
Wait with the group while one or two miners sweep the section to look for the missing miner.
Forget about the missing miner and start evacuating from the section.
3. If you don’t get any additional information about the outby emergency, what should you do?
Call outside and tell the communications person you are evacuating.
Walk out the primary escapeway.
Go to the mantrip and ride out.
Walk out the secondary escapeway.
4. As you escape, you first smell smoke and then see light smoke in the entry. Your multigas meter alarms; it is measuring 53 ppm CO. What should you do?
Don your SCSR immediately.
Switch from the present escapeway or entry you’re in to another one with less smoke.
Have someone with a multigas meter take a gas reading.
Go to the closest refuge alternative
