Hello, this is ___________calling from the Virginia Tech University Center for Survey Research. We are conducting a survey for the National Park Service. This is not a sales call.

Your household was one of a small number selected across the country to provide opinions on how best to protect and improve scenic vistas in National Parks and other wilderness areas. As we understand, you did not complete a survey from the National Park Service you received in the mail a few weeks ago. We are calling now, with the hope that you will help us by answering a few questions. Your responses will help by ensuring public opinion will be included in the decisions concerning the protection of scenic vistas in National Parks. The entire survey will only take about 5 minutes to complete.

Before we begin, I would like to let you know that this survey has been approved by the Office of Management and Budget and I am required to tell you that a Federal agency may not conduct or sponsor, and that you are not required to respond to, a collection of information unless it has a currently valid OMB control number. The control number for this collection is 1024-0255. Secondly, your participation is voluntary and completely anonymous which means your name will never be connected with your individual responses. Finally, if you have any questions about this survey, I have a name and contact number available if you would like to have it. Can we begin?
