Examination of Cash Nutrition Assistance
Program (NAP) B enefits in Puerto Rico
We are conducting a study to better understand how Nutrition
Assistance Program (NAP) Family Card holders spend their
benefits in food stores, and how easy or hard it is for retailers to
become certified for NAP and to redeem Family Card benefits.
We are talking with NAP participants, retailers, and community
organizations across Puerto Rico.
Why do you
want to talk to
me?
Who is conducting the study?
Insight Policy Research, an independent research organization, is
conducting the study under contract with the U.S. Department of
Agriculture’s (USDA’s) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) Office of
Policy Support. FNS provides the funding for NAP.
Your input is very important and helps us understand NAP
participants’ experiences using the Family Card and retailers’
views on the benefits and barriers of accepting the Family Card.
We can only get that information from talking with people like
you.
Why should I
participate?
What about
my NAP benefits
or my retailer certification status?
Will this affect
those?
What kinds of
questions will you
ask?
What are
you going to
do with the information after
the interview is
over?
How do I know
this is legitimate? How can I
find out more?
No. Your current and future benefits or retailer certification
status will not be affected by your participation in this study.
The information you provide is confidential. Your name will not
be linked to anything you say and your participation will not be
reported to the NAP office.
We want to know how NAP participants shop with their Family
Card, and how easy or hard it is for retailers to become certified
to accept the Family Card.
We will bring together the information from all of the people
participating in this study to describe participants’ experiences
using NAP benefits and retailers’ views on redeeming NAP
benefits. The information you share will only be used in summary
form when reporting results. Your name and the name of stores
will be removed from your responses.
If you would like to find out more about this study, or have
questions, you can contact Carole Trippe at Insight Policy
Research, who is responsible for collecting information for this
study. You may leave a message at (786) 505-8949, and she will
return your call shortly.
