Dear Agricultural Producer:
USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) is conducting the Agricultural Farm
Labor Survey. This survey will help us accurately measure how many farm workers were hired,
the average hours they worked, and average wage rates paid to them during the weeks of July 612 and October 12-18, 2014.
We will combine your information with that of some 14,000 other producers nationwide to
develop regional and national farm labor estimates. The results provide important data used to
administer farm labor recruitment and placement service programs, and inform legislators in
determining labor policies. We will publish the results of this survey in the biannual Farm Labor
report, to be released November 20, 2014.
For your convenience, you have the following options to respond:
•

•

Online at www.agcounts.usda.gov beginning October 12, 2014. Responding online is the
easiest, fastest and safest way to complete your survey and it saves taxpayer dollars too. All
you need is the identification number on the enclosed form to begin.
By mail. Complete the survey questionnaire and mail it back in the return envelope.

If we do not hear from you by October 18, 2014, a NASS representative will contact you to help
you complete your form. As required by Federal law, your responses are completely confidential.
We safeguard the privacy of all respondents, ensuring that no individual operation or producer
can be identified.
Thank you for participating in the survey and for your support of our programs and U.S.
agriculture.
Sincerely,

Mark Harris
