Adults 18 years and older who do not prescribe antibiotics as part of their roles. Respondents will be
recruited using an online panel.

Respondents to the Be Antibiotics Aware Consumer Survey (BAACS) will be individuals who are
registered with an online survey panel provider. Respondents will be offered survey choice "points" equal
to $10. Points are commonly provided to survey panel respondents and can be redeemed for prizes. Points
will be given to respondents directly by the online panel provider.

The BAACS will gather information about consumer exposure to messages and materials; perceived
effectiveness of materials and key messages; and knowledge about antibiotic resistance, viral vs. bacterial
infections and how to treat them, and appropriate antibiotic use. Survey results will be used to refine and
modify Be Antibiotics Aware messages and materials for continued/future implementation.

In November 2017, CDC launched Be Antibiotics Aware messages/materials to raise awareness and
knowledge among healthcare professionals and consumers about appropriate antibiotic use and
prescribing. It is critical to rapidly assess comprehension and receptivity to these messages/materials
(within 12 weeks) to determine whether they resonate with target audiences and to identify areas for
improvement for continued/future implementation.
